The weather outside isn’t frightful and there hasn’t been a need for a fire that’s delightful, but Union Square is going to let it snow, let snow, let it snow. Specifically tomorrow, Thursday February 9th from 7am to 2pm.
The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), Ski Areas of New York (SANY), and I Love New York are trucking in tons of snow to turn Union Square into a winter wonderland in hopes of reminding New Yorkers that there is still snow on our local ski slopes. They’ll also be making their own snow on site showing off the quality of the snow making equipment used to cover the slopes of 50 plus New York ski destinations. Apparently, it’s more advanced than my Snoopy Snow Cone Maker.
In addition to just enjoying a Union Square blanketed in white, there will be free snowboarding for kids 3 to 6. Professional snowboarder Pat Moore will be talking about his snowboarding adventures. Red Bull’s street team will be doing giveaways. Ski and snowboarding experts will be available to talk shop and encourage NYers to hit the slopes. Make tomorrow a snow day and swing by Union Square.
